Are Wellness and Adventure linked?

Today’s adventure -- voting. We are new to the state and a bit curious how things will work. Ideally, we would have voted by mail, however, it somehow seemed a risk as new voters in the state/county. It is sad that as a nation voting is an event. I like that we celebrate it, yet, as a customer service and IT person, I have been grown to trust silent victories. No news is good news. Voting is a strange thing, some are interested and others are seeming completely uninterested. Interest and eligibility are not always linked. You may or may not be eligible and be interest or not. So are extremely interested are not eligible. Systems are in place that, either intentionally or unintentionally, make it impossible for some people to vote. As a woman, I am aware of the fight for our right to vote. To have our voices and opinions counted. I feel an obligation to vote, as well as a civic duty. I am also interested and eligible. In chatting with my mom this morning, she shared that in 69 years, she has not missed an opportunity to vote in any election. She is committed! In fact, many years ago, my mother ran in an election. She was running to be Auditor. We (my siblings, and I) were highly active that year in getting out the vote. It was an adventure to be sure! In the end, my mother was not elected. Many of us cried. We felt that we had lost. My mom claimed that she made her point. As much as winning and serving, she wanted us all more familiar with the process.
A few other times I was moved to campaign and get out the vote. I ebb and flow with my involvement beyond my own voting. When I was out of work in Denver and feeling out of options, I got involved. During that time, I met John Hickenlooper and was active in his first mayoral campaign. It felt good to be involved, to somewhat liaise with the LGBT community. I was active in PFLAG and only Hickenlooper, of the 9 candidates, attended our event and risked be associated publicly. Thanks to the efforts of so many, our rights are not totally secure, however we are a force. I benefit from that effort, regardless of the effort I personally extended.
2020, among other things, is a presidential election year. And, we have a pandemic lurking. It is very strange and uncommon, to say the least. So, yeah, voting today is an adventure. We are 12 days out from the election. It is unclear how this adventure might end. We can no longer trust polls, it seems. We must trust the process. That is indeed an adventure! The USA has done well so far in our 200+ years as a democracy. We did have one election end with a court battle. Thankfully it was resolved pretty quickly, and all parties accepted the opinion of the court. It is unclear what might happen in 12 days’ time. It is indeed an adventure!
